the view was breathtaking as i drove up to the venue where sergio and esther’s wedding would take place. the etxegana hotel and spa, borders the gorbea national park and on this particular day it was a little extra bright and beautiful. it was also incredibly hot, but nobody could be bothered by the sun when they had a full day of displays of love and plenty to celebrate. i want to give a special thank you to the wedding planner, janis vallejo, for making sure we stayed hydrated throughout the day! the guests were absolutely loving the cocktails and the view and went all out for their photos, turning up with some of the most hilarious and spontaneous guest photos i have to date. and of course, the bride and groom looked amazing, in love, and relaxed during the last few minutes of sun that we had before the day was over and the night celebrations began. all in all i have to say that looking back it was an absolutely gorgeous, fun, and unpredictable day and i am glad i was there to see it!
ever had a dèjá vu? i definitely did as i unpacked my gear and realised that i was meeting up with the same couple, same dog, on the same beach, barely a year after their session. i guess you could say that the one new addition would be the fact that they were now… three. elisa and victor rocked it in front of my camera before, and they sure are fun enough to rock it in front of the camera again… and again… and again. elisa braved the chilly weather and came with all kinds of ideas to the shoot, i ended up with sand in my ears (no joke!), laika, the dog had plenty of outside time, and elisa and victor got to have their portraits taken to remember this new and exciting season of their lives. i have to say… if I had to do it all over again, i would.
we’re on the countdown… in just a couple days sergio and esther are going to be saying their i do’s, and i thought it would be the perfect time to share their engagement session. i have to say, their adorable dog “thelma” totally stole the show. you see, sometimes when you are shooting on location people will stop and watch and see what you’re doing. occasionally pulling out a phone and taking their own photo, ha! but in this case people weren’t watching me, or even them, they were staring and smiling big at thelma. definitely one of my favourite dogs ever. so after answering a million questions about how the lovely wheelchair-bound dog gets around, we were able to have a fantastic time showing off their love for each other. it was also important to sergio that we show off his love for his local soccer team, the athletic club bilbao, so we got our team spirit, went to san mamas stadium, and boasted team colors and love-filled eyes. it got dark way too soon, i could have easily spent another hour or two with this fun couple. the good news for me is that it won’t be long until they get to be in front of my lens again. i can’t wait!
family photo session in lanzarote.
it was paradise. that’s what i thought when i first took a look at the location for this beautiful family shoot. ainhoa, ignacio, leire, and paul were finishing off their summer vacation in lanzarote by picking a breathtaking beach surrounded by mountains for their family photo shoot. after much splashing around, hiking in flip-flops, and going from one gorgeous spot to the next we were surprised by the most amazing sunset! i have to say this was one of the most beautiful sunsets i have ever photographed in and am more than happy that i was able to deliver these images to them. looking back on them now as i glance outside my bilbao window with a fray and rainy sky all i can honestly say is “can we please go back?”

this was their summer, the one they would remember for the rest of their lives. it was one of many summers spent by each other’s side, but the last one before their new lives as husband and wife. like many other summers it was spent with days on the beach, and relaxing walks while the sun set, but we all knew something had to change… something had to make it different. memorable. it was then that itzi, eneko, and yours truly decided to make it one-of-a-kind. we set a date and decided to commemorate this end and new beginning by ending the summer with an engagement session made complete by a water fight ending. and so it was, and so we did, and so they went forth in their everyday life, but now knowing that whenever they need an extra smile they can always look back to this day and remember. this was the summer when their love today became their love forever.

before summer was over, before the back-to-school race began, and before the hard reality of long days at the office made its ugly comeback. before all of that craziness, there was this crazy, my favourite kind of crazy: crazy love.
i met nacho and victoria a few years back and we immediately hit it off. i even remember going to a funny zumba-like class at the gym with them on the very early days of our friendship, and finding out right after busting all of those uncoordinated moves that victoria is actually a ballerina!
ever since then i have seen these two lovebirds fight to make a long distance relationship work. it honestly makes my heart melt to see how head-over-heels they are about each other to this day, despite the 800 kilometres between them. even now, thinking about it, i can’t help but smile. young, fun, and beautiful, what’s not to love?
fast forward to this summer, and our past attempts to book a photo shoot finally bore fruit. gone were the days of the infamous schedule wars, somehow we had managed to make one date stick. i’m not gonna lie, it was a bit surprising as well as a bit nerve-wrecking . we met up downtown and filled the time between locations talking about work, love, and the things that make our hearts smile. nacho was even such a good sport that he faced his fear of heights for a photo or two. the setting was magical as we walked by the river, the guggenheim, and were covered by a gorgeous sunset that came much sooner than we were ready to say goodbye. i get a bit nostalgic thinking about it, but i simply can’t deny that when i look back on this beautiful summer photo shoot now, all i can do is smile and think to myself that much like true love, this too was worth the wait! 😉
i love her to pieces. she is smart, funny, and as you can probably tell from the family resemblance… quite attractive! 😉 yes, this is my little sister alameth, only that she is not so little anymore. in fact, she’s all grown up and a few weeks ago decided to move to madrid in order to accept a job offer as well as to be closer to her leading man, fran. coincidentally i had to travel to madrid on the very same weekend for a long-overdue songwriting weekend for my musical project “birds and cables”. as fate would have it, we stumbled upon a perfect saturday afternoon and were inspired to take to the dirt roads and untamed wildflowers and commemorate this exciting new season in their life. all that’s left for me to do is to tip my hat and wish them an adventurous spirit, days full of laughter, and the very best of luck!
