shhhhhh!! don’t tell anyone, but these two got married in the smallest and most secretive wedding that i’ve ever been a part of. hanna & will tied the knot in front of the smallest group of friends and family. i believe less than 20 people. i have to say there is something to be said about such a small and intimate wedding, i really liked it. everyone there being truly happy to be their. nobody is there out of a social obligation or to get free drinks all night. and i got to capture it all and help them keep the secret. i know, i know, you’re all thinking “but how are you join to keep it a secret if you post it online for the world to see?!” and my answer to that is… they said i could, so that’s all i need to know! ha!
hannah and will have such an amazing vibe to them. they met online… i just want to throw that out there for the skeptics to read. she is in the air force and he is a contractor in a war zone. my favourite part of their story is that due to their jobs one of the things that really made them perfect for each other is that due to their particular job situations, they get each other. most people wouldn’t. and that, my lovelies, is love.
another thing that was really special and fun about this wedding was that the reception consisted of homemade delicious chill and the most amazing cupcakes i have ever tasted. i believe they had baileys irish cream in the filling. to. die. for.
hannah & will, thank you so much for letting me be there for you guys. it was truly an honour and a fantastic time, definitely worth the trip to germany! i wish you all the best, and congratulations!
how can you make justice to such a huge personality in just 2 dimensions? that was my challenge when i set out to take cristina’s portraits. this girl does it all, from martial arts, to being a camp leader, to actually clowning around… as a legitimately trained clown. after talking for a bit we quickly hit it off by realising that neither of us takes life too seriously, and that is just a recipe for a fantastic photo shoot. tell me you’re up to anything, beautiful music to my ears.
so armed with nothing but my two 35mm digital camera’s we set out to have a fun time and come up with ridiculous poses, and a genuine “yes, i actually look this awesome all the time” photo. this, and laughing until our faces hurt, was what came out of it!
in retrospect, maybe we should have brought a map. marcos, his wife juli and i had arranged to meet up and do a fun maternity photo shoot in a specific side of the beach in sopelana. as we got in the car and started heading that way we realised… we weren’t sure which way to go. somewhere in the excitement of planning this day we had all lost track of where we were going. literally. we knew exactly where we were going but no idea how to get there. after an emergency call to my friend “who knows every beach” and many wrong turns, we decided to give up and walk around the surrounding woods, hoping to at least be able to get a few good shots in before the sun went down. oh, and the sun. the sun was sitting perfectly in between the trees, it was definitely shining down on us. it is worth mentioning that as i laid down my backpack and jacket against a tree while i took photos of these two, a nearby dog decided to mark it’s territory… on my stuff. so that was fun! haha. after a while venturing in the woods (big points to juli for venturing while 8 months pregnant!) we were eventually able to find the spot we’d been looking for. the sunset was there to welcome us and we were happy to take advantage of it and take it from there. all in all, the photos turned out great and i think that it was well worth getting lost and having to toss my jacket in the laundry! 😉
congratulations marcos and juli, i can’t wait to meet him! 🙂
Sebastian Joseph was born a few weeks ago to proud Phil and Lucy. I was almost as excited to take his photograph as I was to see these two as parents for the first time. It was a nice relaxed time getting to know the little one. He quietly slept for most of the session and didn’t seem bothered at all by all the attention. Grandma was visiting to help out with the new arrival so we took the chance and snapped a few photos of the two already loving one another. These just melt my heart.
